The Best Fort Worth Charities and Thrift Shops to Donate or Sell Your Old Stuff To

Whether it’s time to move, you’re renovating, or your home is just starting to look like it deserves its own episode on Hoarders– the first step to tidying up is getting rid of things you don’t use anymore. Here at Mad Trash, we always recommend you donate as much as you can. After all, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

It doesn’t matter if a struggling family, someone obsessed with everything vintage, or an ambitious DIY-er takes ownership of your lightly used belongings. It just feels good knowing you no longer have to worry about it, and you’ve done your part to reuse and recycle. Mad Trash Junk Removal frequently donates items we pick up at charity drop-off stations to ensure we contribute as little to the landfills as possible and support members of our community.

So today, we’re sharing some of the best thrift shops and charities in Fort Worth, Texas to donate some of the stuff taking up space in your house.

Tarrant County Furniture Bank

This local organization helps people transition from homelessness by furnishing their homes. They envision a community where everyone has a place to call home. When you’ve got new furniture on the way, consider donating your old things to the Tarrant County Furniture Bank. The furniture you’re never going to think about again could mean the world to someone just starting out. They are currently accepting dining sets, sofas, loveseats, chairs, desks, tables, beds, dressers, TV stands, and more. Take a look at their guidelines to see if they can take some of that old furniture off of your hands.

The Fort Worth Area Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a global housing non-profit that works alongside Habitat homeowners and volunteers to build homes with affordable mortgages. However, they do much more than that for the Fort Worth community. They also accept gift-in-kinds donations to provide much-needed resources to the families they help. You can donate building materials, gently-used appliances, furniture, and housewares here. These things go directly to the people utilizing HFH’s services or they’re sold at the Habitat ReStore to fund house building projects worldwide.

Goodwill

This non-profit is a great place to donate old clothes, shoes, books, furniture, and knick-knacks. They help the Fort Worth community by training and supporting individuals to pursue lucrative careers in the future. Their charity is also highly transparent and they keep prices low so anyone can afford the items they sell. Read here to learn more about the items they accept, how to get tax deductions, and where the nearest drop-off station is.

Fort Worth Salvation Army

The Salvation Army accepts household goods, appliances, furniture, clothes, and vehicles. The money they collect from the sales of these items go towards funding food pantries, homeless shelters, rehab centers, stopping human trafficking, supporting our veterans, and so much more. You can read more about their guidelines here and get information about claiming a tax deduction.

Doc’s Records and Vintage

Doc’s is a Funkytown treasure and a great place to offload some vintage items. They buy records, CDs, cassette tapes, and 8Tracks. But they don’t stop there. Sell some of your vintage posters, t-shirts, furniture, housewares, art, and pop culture memorabilia to make some space in your home and put a little extra money in your pocket.

Thrift Giant

This Denton thrift shop accepts unwanted clothing and household items, and they recycle anything that can’t be sold. You can drop off your items at any Thrift Giant location or request a free pick-up. Check here to see if your items qualify

Fort Worth Junk Haulers

Hauling items you don’t need anymore can be a hassle. That’s probably why so many of us have boxes and bags of stuff that’s ready to be donated that sit around for months before we actually get around to it. Now, you can just leave it to the gals at Mad Trash. Our Fort Worth junk removal team does curbside pickup and we can take all of your items to the charity of your choice and get rid of anything they won’t accept. Just text us a photo of the junk you need removed, we’ll send you a competitively priced quote, and we’ll send someone out pronto to help you out!
